About Greatwood Cottage
Greatwood Cottage pre-school is run by Sarah who has over 20 years teaching and childcare experience. It offers the benefits of personalised, small group learning in a secure home-based setting with the superb chance for your child to experience Forest School activities on a daily basis. Set in the beautiful Chew Valley, Greatwood Cottage is conveniently situated close to both Bath and Bristol and offers a unique pre-school experience for children aged between 2 years 9 months and 5 years of age.

Our Setting
Set in the rolling hills of the Chew Valley we are lucky to have an acre of outside play space which is secure for the children to use during the day and sets the scene for our Forest Schools activities.
The playroom provides the comfort and security of a family home with access to a further outside play area accessible at all times. Children can select and choose from a range of play equipment covering all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
At Greatwood Cottage we aim to provide children with opportunities for creative and independent learning in a nurturing and secure environment.
Forest School
Our setting follows a Forest School approach through daily activities in the afternoon, come rain or shine! The Forest School approach is about offering learners regular hands-on experience in a woodland or natural environment with trees. As a result, all children will develop a relationship with the natural world which will help them to achieve, develop confidence and self-esteem.
Greatwood Cottage has access to a fantastic outdoor natural setting that will allow children the freedom to experience the Forest School approach in a safe and secure environment under the guidance of trained practitioners.
Children will need appropriate clothing for the daily sessions eg. sunhat and sun tan cream in hot weather and puddle suits and wellington boots on rainy days.

Our Fees
All children are eligible for 15 hours of funded childcare from the term after they turn 3 years old. Please refer to this link in order to find out more: https://www.gov.uk/free-early-education
We also accept funding for 2 year olds. To find out if you are eligible please contact the local authority.
We charge £5.00 per hour and £25.00 for full day sessions. This includes morning and afternoon snack as well as a drink at lunchtime but please provide a packed lunch for your child.
